Provincial Championships Vaulting to the Podium return to top

Ontario Provincial Championships were held April 27 - 29 in Grimsby ON. This prestigious event was for only the best gymnasts in the Province at Levels 5 9yrs+ Level 6 9yrs + Level 7 9 - 11yrs. Athletes must have obtain a qualifying score over 2 Provincial qualifiers during the 2006-2007 season to compete at Championships.

Clarington Gymnasts are among the best in Ontario sending a team of athletes to Grimsby.

In the Level 6 age 11 category topping a large group of 27 athletes Eniskillens Abigail Duke took 2nd place on vault and 6th over all.

Courtney McKinlay from Oshawa brought home 6th on bars and 15th over-all out of a talented group of 23 athletes.

In the Level 5 age 9 category: Courtice's Claire Bignell and Sydney McCutcheon stole 9th & 10th on vault and Kendra Carson showed off her floor routine receiving 6th. Topping a group of over 40+ gymnasts.

Finally Port Hopes Tori Harness swung her way to 5th place on the uneven bars. While Stephanie Cloutier placed 14th on beam and floor. Out of over 35 of Ontario's top gymnasts.

To these ladies medals are not everything. It is not just about winning but achieving personal goals - all of the Clarington's gymnasts stayed on the BEAM!! That is an accomplishment in itself!

Gymnastics is about creating self esteem, achieving personal accomplishments and creating memories that will last a lifetime!
